Robert Henry, M.D., M.S., is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist. Dr. Henry has been in private medical practice in Southern California since 1992, following completion of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program at the University of Washington in Seattle.
His practice focus has been outpatient evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation management of musculoskeletal injuries. His focus also includes dysfunction of the spine, sports and industrial injuries, and electrodiagnostic medicine.
Dr. Henry obtained his Bachelor’s of Science and Master of Science degrees within the Department of Kinesiology at UCLA in 1980 and 1983, respectively. During his graduate studies at UCLA, Dr. Henry taught undergraduate and nursing school courses in Neuromuscular Functional Anatomy, Dissection Anatomy, and Biomechanics, and he also developed a private business in exercise consulting in West Los Angeles.
He then attended UCLA Medical School, graduating in the top of his class and receiving the Merck Award for Superior Clinical and Academic Performance in 1988. He completed a one-year transitional internship at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and then completed Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program and post-graduate training in Electrodiagnostic Medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle in 1992. He received Board Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1994.
Dr. Henry has been in private medical practice in Southern California since 1992. He has worked within busy Orthopedic Spine Surgery practices, collaborating closely with spine surgeons, as well as anesthesiologist, physiatrists, occupational medicine physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, orthotists, massage therapists, nutritionists, and acupuncturists, with office locations within Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and Ventura Counties.
In 2011, Dr. Henry co-founded and served as President/ Medical Director of “Valencia Sports Medicine”, a multidisciplinary nonsurgical sports medicine practice, through 2015. He more recently co-founded and is currently Medical Director and President of “Body Dynamix Integrated Sports Medicine”, with office locations in Tarzana, Lake Forest, and Thousand Oaks, CA. Dr. Henry maintained an outpatient spine care and electrodiagnostic medicine practice at “Nelson Spine Institute” in Thousand Oaks from 2006 through 2015, and has now relocated to “St. Charles Spine Institute”.
